Earlier this week I was speaking to a lovely lady and fellow blogger Yasmin about her daily routine regarding waking up and being grateful for the people you have in your life. Yas told me that she spends a few moments considering all the people in her life that she has to be grateful for and then sends a message to the person who tops her list on each particular day letting them know the reasons why. This idea is absolutely beautiful as it not only kick starts your day with positivity but it also spreads the love to your friends or family.
So, today I woke up with intention to follow this routine. However, considering all the things which I could be grateful for, made me think about how lucky I am to be me. This is not something you will hear me say very often or at all. But I wanted to share this with you because I think it is very important to appreciate yourself. Not just for whatever unique traits you bring to the world, but simply for the fact that today you have the ability to be happy and healthy (I hope). In terms of health, I personally have ten fingers, two legs and all of my vital organs in working shape and I don’t remember the last time I stopped to fully appreciate that. On top of that, I have eyes to appreciate the beauty of others, ears to appreciate music, my body to dance and my heart to love others.
And in terms of happiness – sometimes I get bogged down with feelings around issues so small and petty which honestly could disappear if I chose to take a different view on the matter. The fact that I am living and breathing is something to truly appreciate especially since not everyone will make it to the end of this day.
I think the fact that I am able to sit here writing a blog on my laptop about all the make up I love really is a luxury, which I possibly take for granted. Of course my own life is by no means the only thing I am appreciative of today. As cheesy as this is going to sound.. I really do appreciate the people who take the time to read these posts and for those of you who have taken the time to leave a comment on here or on my Instagram page, you truly make my day. There can be a lot of negativity in the world and the fact that every message I have received is positive really makes a difference to my day and my view on life. I recently saw a quote questioning, “If you are only good to those who are good to you, then what good are you to the world?” So to draw an end to a very mushy and cheesy post, think about how you can make the world a better place today, or just brighten up one persons day. Even if it’s just smiling at a stranger. Try it out.
