Review: Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm

123Here is a product I have been wanting to try out for a while now. It’s Revlon’s Colourburst Matte Balm.

Although there are a few different brands which have introduced a chunky crayon style lip product. I wanted to try out Revlon’s because it comes in a matte version and I adore matte lipsticks! If matte lipstick isn’t for you, Revlon also have the Colourburst Lacquer Balm which offers high shine.

I opted for the ‘Sultry’ shade of this product because it seemed to be quite similar to my natural lip colour and I was looking for an everyday shade. My lips, annoyingly are not one colour throughout, so an every day lip product which will even out my lip colour is perfect for me.

From no coverage to heavy Coverage using Revlon’s Colourburst Matte Balm

I absolutely love this product. It has build-able coverage so you can apply the smallest amount for a clean everyday look. Or you can apply an extra layer of product for a more vibrant look for a night out. When applying this extra layer of product,it looks like I am wearing a lipstick. When you compare the price of this to a Mac lipstick it is a really worthwhile buy. The only flaw I can see is that the crayon end is quite thick so it can be difficult to stay within the outline of your lip. This product may be even more difficult to apply if you have smaller lips than I do.

This product is great for occasions when you don’t want to wear lipstick because it doesn’t look like a lipstick when you take it out of your handbag. If you are not use to wearing lipstick, I would highly recommend this product to ease yourself into wearing some colour on your lips. Personally I choose to apply a lip primer, Mac’s Prep + Prime Lip before applying this, so the colour stands out a little more. However, you can wear the product alone too.

Arguably the best feature is that despite it looking like lipstick on my lips it feels and smells so fresh just like a balm should. Recently I have stopped using lip balms such as Vaseline and Maybelline’s Baby Lips as I feel that they often make me lips feel even more dry after using them. Mac lipsticks also dry out my lips especially since all of the ones I own are in matte or satin shades. Revlon’s colourburst balm is great because it does not leave my lips feeling dry afterwards either.

I cannot wait to try out some of the other colours in the range. Will you be trying out Revlon’s Colourburst Matte Balm?
